(this post is likely to have lots of spelling typing errors...but I just want to post right now in case I don't have time later.)
My greater family, (parents, aunts, uncles) never established a strong Easter Tradition. I'm still struggling to do that, create lasting memories for my kids, enrich their lives with our Spiritual and Biblical Beliefs, and make landmark moments they can look back on as adults. I'm not very good at it. At least, I don't feel like I'm very good at it.
I invited people over for dinner after church on Sunday. Hordes of people. Having guests, sharing blessings, on Easter is important to me. I feel a little lost if there is no big meal and no big gathering.
But I am not a great hostess. I'm not organized, and I have the bad habit of trying something new: a new recipe, a new decorating idea, on the guests. Sometimes it fails...badly...like the cheesy
It's Thursday, and I have my simple menu and desserts all planed out...and I just caught my self Googleing something NEW and interesting to add to the menu.
And I still have to clean, clean, clean the house.
Lord help me.

Good luck! I do like to throw a party/dinner every once in a while.
good for you! I've struggled with easter traditions (dinner and baskets) aside...
AMEN sister...Jesus' resurrection day celebration is a time for trememdous praise & rejoicing! you keep after it girl, party boldly & lavishly for Easter memories...your kids WILL recall your loving efforts for many many years! a supportive prayer spoken for your strength & enjoyment... blest be! :)
It sounds like fun! I think your guests will have a great time and a good memory to tuck away and look back on another day. Go ahead and try something new! If it works out--wonderful! If it doesn't, you'll know not to make it next time. It sounds like you will have enough planned with your other dishes to cover in case the new dish doesn't turn out the way you would like. :) Happy Easter to you!
It'll be awesome. It always is. xo
Ps. My van died and is at the mechanics now. I'll keep you posted.
I am a horrible hostess and have been all my life, I commend you for trying. One thing my daughter does if trying a new recipe, she trys it on her family first. What better critiques? And she is a wonderful hostess. Good luck hon it's not as bad as you think?
The best way to be a great hostess is to be calm and content - Keeping you entertaining simple and real - so you can enjoy all your guests.
If you haven't tried it before leave it go - use the old tired and true dishes that you know everyone will like.
Stop Stressing your out. - It just isn't worth it.
Hugs,
Penny
Ohhhhhhhh look at the pretty new blog look here! Awwww, I love it, when people change their blog looks. :-)
Mmmmmm, you do tend to do-this-holiday in a big way, hu? Well, I'm glad you know how you feel and want to go with it. Me, I've never been "The Hostess With The Most-est." And that's just me. :-)
Wishing you a happy time with family/friends, this weekend...
Gentle hugs...
I'm sure it will be wonderful! Full of love, blessings, and maybe even a little bit of cheek pinching.
Hoppy Easter y'all!
Well I think that people just love coming and visiting - sharing the love! I'm sure that everyone loves you and just loves spending time with you.
Hope that you had a fab Easter!

I'm sure it was lovely. If you care enough to invite people and fuss over them, they don't mind if you're a bit disorganized. What's important to them is that they are important to you. I hope you had a blessed Easter season! Happy almost-summer!
Hope it went well! :o)
How did it go?
I tend to be a big coward when it comes to new recipes.

It's okay. Go ahead. Kill me with your honesty.
